Bangladesh agrees final draft of 15-year LNG supply deal with AOT Energy

DHAKA/LONDON: Bangladesh agrees final draft of a 15-year deal to import 1.25 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually from Switzerland-based trader AOT Energy, according to an energy official from a subsidiary of state-run Petrobangla

"A final draft has been agreed with them. It will take some time to sign the deal," said Mohammad Quamruzzaman, managing director of Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co. Ltd. (RPGCL).

Quamruzzaman said Bangladesh was also in talks with Indonesia's Pertamina and Oman Trading International for long-term LNG deals.

He added that Bangladesh remains on track to receive its first LNG cargo in April/May via a floating import terminal being developed by U.S. shipping company Excelerate.

The first deliveries will be sourced from the world's biggest LNG producer Qatar, with which Bangladesh has already concluded a supply agreement, he added.
